Domba Song No. 10

Tshivhula (tshihule) tsho nya mashonzha thalala.
The big moth from Tshivhula (bundle of grass) laid the first caterpillars of the season.
Chorus: Ro u vhona tshone tsho nya mashonzha Phalama.
We have come to see what produced the caterpillars at Phalama.

Mashonzha are edible caterpillars which, when in season during February and March, are collected in great numbers from western Vendaland, brought back to the Sibasa district, dried and eaten as a delicacy. = lit. it excretes worms.
