Song No. 16

1 Ndi semelwa'ni nga wa madekwe?
Why was I abused by one who was but a child last night?
2 Khomba khulwane (or Ndi muhulwane ) thi dzuli ndi tshi semwa.
I am a senior girl (I am an important person), and I am not going to sit down and be shouted at.
3 Ndi muhulwane ndi fhira mme .
I am a more important person than your mother.
4 Thi dzuli ndi tshi semiwa .
I am not going to put up with the rudeness of a little girl.
5 hangana mulovha ndo ni vhudza.
I told you yesterday about your bad manners.
 Chorus: eru-.
  or: Maovhelwana -
(Maovhelwana =baby storks)

This song is a warning to young girls not to argue with their seniors, particularly at their ruler's head-quarters. Khomba khulwane and muhulwane refer in particular to noble girls and women.
