Song No. 5A

 1  Mushangu wa khomba.
   The naked one of vhusha.
 2  Ahee! Tshinwe ni mphe-vho.
   Give me something also!
 Chorus:  Ahee! Ro shangula.
   We have prepared (her).

In this case, khomba is not 'girl of marriageable age', but an alternative name for the vhusha school. Some say that this is also the meaning in Song No. 3.

Song No. 5B I have only heard sung unaccompanied by informants who have described the rite.

 Song No. 5B

 1  Ri a tona,
   We are smearing ash,
 Chorus:  Ria tona mavhala.
We are smearing on the zebra's stripes.
