Recording houses and their occupants

The formula is presented as an example entry illustrating the way in which information relating area (contrada), house and people should be presented. Then a short explanatory note describes this recording method in a way which conflicts with the example where marital status is not consistantly given.

Description of the state of souls of the Parish of Saint N. in the city of Benevento, made this year 16.. on the .. of the month of .. by me N.N. Pievano (senior priest) of that Parish, etc.

In the Contrada of N., in the houses owned by Antonio Buono, which is the first, reside

First House

C and Cr	Antonio buono of Benevento, son of a certain Burtolo of Benevento, and of Berta de Magistris, married couple,	aged 50
C and Cr	Apollonia wife of the said Antonio, daughter of Matteo Bonviso of the City of Ascoli and of Maria Verni of Benevento,	aged 40
C and Cr	Donato son of the above	aged 16
Cr	Burtolo son of the above	aged 9
	Aurora daughter of the above	aged 6
C and Cr	Francesco Paterno of Arpaia Diocese of S.Agata son of Ludovico Caro and of Bronda Dattili of Arpaia, married couple, servant of the above	aged 30
	Agata Moro of Benevento daughter of Andrea of Benevento, and of Paola Molini of Airola Diocese of S.Agata, servant of the above aged	20
in all		7 persons

Second House

There follow in succession the description of all the other Houses in the Parish by the same method, specifying for each person the name, surname, parents, place of origin, Diocese, Age, and state that is single, married, widowed, or ecclesiastic. And if the House does not belong to those who reside there, state in Casa à pigione. And if anyone of that House has gone to reside elsewhere, also specify this, putting the sign
