In this project, the material pertaining to the history of anthropology is heavily weighted in favour of nineteenth century anthropology. In general, it concentrates on the dynamics involving nineteenth century anthropology, museums, and General Pitt Rivers. It is, therefore, material which is useful in the exploration of such as issues as nineteenth century evolutionary models, and typological classification systems and methods of display.
