Old General Pitt Rivers Label - [printed] 'Shield of the Dyaks of Borneo. The ornamentation represents a human figure and is fringed with human hair'. [there are two of these labels, one on the front and one on the back, the front one is larger but the content is exactly the same]

Other information - NB This shield does have human hair ornamentation. Displayed in Bethnal Green and South Kensington Museums (V&A). The painted decoration on this shield is quite crude. The hair is arranged in rows. The back does not have hair decoration but does have painted decoration in red black and gold.
