Ankara 4th April
erife Hanm {gl: with whom we stayed on first arrival in Ankara. Mother of London friends} gets out her mat and prays apparently five times a day. She seems to
know the direction of Mecca, for she skews her mat at about 30 degrees to the line of the hall.
On Sun. 7th April we came in when she was at prayer. Ylmaz {her school boy son} doesn't seem to.
Berin's mother also left us to pray at about 7.00 p.m.
Anne{gl. mother, i.e. erife} prays on rising and at bed time, and once we found her at it about 4 p.m. {c: note my political incorrectness and naive ignorance}
