Kanber: Aa's 'oda' - 1 v. large roomy, usual lay out, sedir along 3 sides, standing quite apart together with another 'oda' used only in the winter (the other
supposed to be cooler). In the second 'oda' there is a large raised partition behind - a cupboard for storing bedding, and a toilet closet enclosed behind
doors. Also v. roomy. {Aa} remarked that this oda was used for dns.
A new 'oda' built only last year in good grey stone beyond the 'bahe' - again quite separate from the 'ev' and the 'havlu'. Smaller, but with wonderful views -
light and airy. Interior white-washed and well finished. 2 windows.
Ev. - approaches through separate gate, and a large 'havlu'. Sheep pen to one side, gate leading into 'bahe' and to new oda beyond, on other side. Cucumbers,
karpuz, and kavun growing in 'bahe'. Next to this gate a large store room - cool and dark, in which the bulk of the cooking utensils were kept, milk, yourt,
cheese, flour, etc. - during the very hot weather 'ayran' for drinking is kept in the well in the 'havlu', from which it emerges stone cold. Other smaller
store rooms and a stable - 'karna'{gl: this word, clearly written defeats me 15/12/95. It should be ahr} under steps in one corner - these steps leading up
to the 'ev' which stands high above the 'havlu', overlooking the surrounding fields, and with a fine view of the mountains. Because of its position the 'ev' is
remarkably light and fresh, a large window lets in further light. Bowls of flowers on window sill and pots of mint growing. Tandr and raised dais on which the
women sit is on the window side, so that one can sit right up against the wi
