i(6587): criticising i(Fatma Bayraktar) {likely to be 6278; possibly 6113; or not in the db} for having gone off to city as servant, said she wld. not agree to
work for us until she'd seen us, and had time to decide whether we were suitable and trustworthy. Says she was asked to work for the gendarmes, but refused -
this would have made her ashamed. She summed us up after 3 days, she says, and decided she cld. come to our house freely and without shame - I like a sister to
her. P. like a brother. Did not feel she was a servant with us. Came like a komu, or like a sister. We made her feel she was our sister, and so she did not
feel she was to be despised in doing some of our chores. (see E.2 p. 92 and 161).
