Elba - arrival. i(6587), Beki i(haci ylmaz)'s wife, cleaning our house pending our coming. The Beki said they had lived in Kayseri for 5 yrs. where he was an
arabac, {hand carter} and only returned to the village because of his health - consequently his wife accustomed to town ways, imi. She could cook, clean,
wash, etc. - for us. Wife didn't seem so sure of her ability to do these things as we wanted. Her cleaning was simply pouring water over floors and splashing
it around with a brush. She had not brushed dust and dirt from window sills, wiped paint off doors, swept out floors before she started washing them. Neglected
toilet altogether - unused to this type of house, which is not a village house at all, but an attempt at a modern town house.

hope of making it habitable without much help}
