In i(Hseyn zkul)'s oda: women of household talking to me - discussing pregnancies, Melahat (gelin) saying she thought she was pregnant again {1st born 1950}
as she hadn't menstruated for 2 mths., her younger sister, Fatma, who's a gelin of 6 mths. standing says she thought she might be pregnant and discussing
symptoms - in front of son of family, Mehmet (in teens) and younger children. Interested in my underclothing - "let's see". I said - "no good here - Mehmet's
present. Utanyorum {I am ashamed}" The women said "don't bother about him - he's only 14 or 15 - too young to bring embarassment to a woman. A woman does not
need to hide fr. a boy as young as that." Mehmet certainly didn't seem in the least embarassed by the intimate conversation, but was listening with interest.
One of women had previously told me Mehmet was 17 or 18.
