Anthony drove me to Menemen (18,500) and then across the Gediz valley to the hills on the other side - the Yunt Dag. We drove up a long, long road going to Curkur village.
We came suddenly on the village in a bowl in the mountains: green. Almost all houses with tiled roofs.
Village is (Anthony) an ancient site, and the people claim to be "yerli". Surrounding villages are settled YŸrŸk.
Road new - 1973 - 1973; tiles new.
