Kurban Bayrami
A vast amount to remember. Impossible.
Up at 5.50 - i(0185 A.O.) came c. 6.15. Men in Bayram clothes heading for the mosque. About 6.30 I went over, talked to a group inc. i(0110 Hidayet Belik)
(from S.A.?) and others.
I sat in the far back left corner of the mosque, namaz klmadim. Then I waited while the young rushed out and "bayramlatim" with others who were all
"bayramla"ing with each other. Then i(0185 A.O.) hurried me home; and we had breakfast in the 'ev'.
"I would not take any other guest to kahvalti in the ev."
Then i(Aslan) called to ask i(0185 A.O.) to perform their sacrifice. He made a fuss but did not refuse. While I was finishing an excellent breakfast (eggs,
kizartma, kaymak, yogurt and a glass of milk specially for me) i(0185 A.O.) disappeared and did the Aslan sacrifice.
He was then tackled by the i(0135 Aht. Gkpinar) household, and was quite cross because they were not even ready. So I helped to tie up the cow, which (being
done badly in a hurry) gave a lot of resistance. i(0185 A.O.) left it inadequately tied, and went "namaz klmak". Then c. 8.00 am. we went together to
i(0010 Hasan Aksoyf) for i(0185 A.O.'s) own. See below.

We/They killed a cow, and I left them and went to find i(5171 Glhanim) (i(0155 Ibrahim Isik's) widow, i(Meht. Karatas's) Z) and was joyfully greeted by i(0156
Nurettin Isik). Gave photos, took photos. Meanwhile, i(0169 Baki Isik) arrived, i(0167 Sleyman's) son, i(0168 Mehmet's) brother, and took me off for a talk.

I then aimed for i(Osman nal) to give/borrow photos and found his son i(0430 Mehmet) from Belgium - very enthusiastic.

c.11.45 pm. While I was with i(Osman nal) a young man arrived to say i(0077 Mehmet) in i(0082 Talat Ates) wanted me, and had sent his Mercedes to collect me!
I walked to find i(0077 Mehmet Haci Ates) of whom I had an excellent 1984 photo, and found him as a guest of i(0160 Murat Isik), whose house was full of
people. Refused to stay. Then they took me via i(0185 A.O.) (where I picked up a pad) and went on to i(0082 Talat), who was staying in the late i(0074 Osman
Ates's) house behind i(0044 Hasanin Hasan).
He was full of talk and the room full of people - young men.
A splendid meal, accompanied by lashings of half cooked meat - very tough- arrived; and then i(0082 Talat) left for Talas and a little later I too left.

I walked via various encounters to i(Nazife) and i(Tenzile), where I sat for a time. Then to i(0286 Nazim Tufan). [All visits included giving photos and
showing the migrants what are left of the old ones.]

Then to see i(0182 Sleyman Karakaya) but I did not go in.
At this point, i(0117 Necip Bingl) was shouting at me from his greenhouse and I went to see him - fairly long one to one talk, interrupted by brief bayram
calls. i(0085 Ahm. Azgin) arrived and I managed - on leaving - to refuse an invitation.
c. 5.00 pm. I was extremely tired and decided to give up and go home. Went to give an old photo to i(Yusuf's) son i(Cuma Ali) - gave it to his gelin and was
p...... by i(0817 Sleyman Aksoy) son of i(Sefer). Visited i(Sefer).
Had now collected i(0117 Necip Bingl), i(Sefer Aksoy).
I then called on i(0022 Selahaddin Aksoy) (also gave old photos) and then left to find i(0185 A.O.); talked to i(Fatima), collected luggage (forgetting my
orange towel) and went to give sweets and a photo of i(0100 Ahmet Belik) to i(Anis). She was out, so I went home. I had said goodbye to i(0185 A.O.) After
Ankara, two short nights and 12 hours of solid field, I more or less collapsed and went to sleep early.
