Notes on i(1525 Abdi Soylar) joint visit 14 7 86

[Written 21 7 86, without worrying too much. Incomprehensible.]
(i) Discussion of the eme {gl : fountain} gossip/news distribution.
(ii) Mention of 'caril' and 'calanlik'
An upwardly mobile family.
{SHEPHERDS}
Woman remarked on disappointment of a son who left a yatakli {gl : boarding}school in Isporta - "he would have been a memur" - how much better even than
success as "usta".
Present - woman with different headdress - she is wife of shepherd "Arosa" - I think. Wife comes to milk sheep and make cheese.
(iii) i(1525 Abdi) was in Germany. Used money to buy land from Ekreb.
A lot of "muhacir" {gl : emigrants} in Ekrek who are willing to sell land much more freely, so easy to buy.
{I have in my notes "2 1/2 m.TL" sounds a lot, no measure.
(iv) Local cows. Cost little to feed. No herding - vlg. herd. Little illness.
(v ) See above. Shepherd. He owns 50 sheep of his own.
Srr. - 7 households. Tagluk ky.
