Domba Song No. 18  1  Khali yo (gali ) sina nnyoni,    The pot's (big pot's) all f----d up (lit. has decayed in its genitals),  2  Nnyoni marumbule.    Pricked through her aperture.  Chorus:  o tsha marumbule.    Dawn has broken for the girl who was deflowered.   I have tried to convey in my translation the contrast between the ruthlessness of the barrack-room and the nostalgia of a girl, in the reactions to the loss of virginity that are expressed respectively in the words of the solo and chorus. This is sung at the end of domba, when the girls are carried up into the ruler's courtyard.
