Musidzana, tshinanyana! |
|
Dance a little, my little girl! |
2 |
Musidzana, tshi a tambula. |
|
It is painful, my girl. |
Chorus: |
avhula, musidzana! |
|
Take a lover, my girls! |
This teaches the novice that only a girl (musidzana) may have lovers. After marriage, it is forbidden to -davhula.
In the dance, each girl supports her body on her right elbow and her feet, and holds her left hand to her head. Then, with the left elbow as centre of a circle, she moves round clockwise by stepping quickly with her feet, left-right-left-right-left etc. |
