State of souls register for Ascoli Satriano, 1754

No registers survive for the 1740's but apart from this example of 1754, a copy of the 1752 listing was kept in Naples with the preparatory documents for the State taxation register, the Catasto Onciario. The 1754 document was compiled by Cristoforo Visciola, a local man, who was successor to Misisca as Archpriest. He continues his precursor's style and attention to detail.

The residence, which is underneath the previously described house, is divided into two sections. Lionardo lives with his wife and unmarried son in the first. The younger of his married sons lives in the other part, with his own wife and three small children. This is an example of a residence which comprises two nuclear families when looking at the divisions, but a 'multiple' family if the whole dwelling is considered.
